QNAP NAS Virtual Switch: Network Configuration

Network setup for QNAP NAS Virtual Switch

In order to configure the network settings for the QNAP NAS Virtual Switch, follow the steps below:

  1. Access the QTS (QNAP Turbo Station) web interface by entering the NAS IP address into a web browser.
  2. Click on "Control Panel" and then "Network & File Services".
  3. Under the "Virtual Switch" tab, click "Create" to create a virtual switch.
  4. Specify the virtual switch name, VLAN ID, and adapter options:
Option Description
Virtual Switch Name Enter a unique name for the virtual switch.
VLAN ID Specify the VLAN ID for the virtual switch (0 for no VLAN).
Adapter Options Choose the network adapter(s) to associate with the virtual switch.

Note: The NAS requires at least one physical network adapter to create a virtual switch.

  1. After configuring the virtual switch, you can assign IP addresses and configure network settings for the virtual machines connected to the virtual switch.
  2. To assign IP addresses for virtual machines, go to "Virtualization Station" and click on "Virtual Switch".
  3. Under the "VM Network" tab, click on the virtual switch to assign IP addresses or configure DHCP settings.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the changes.
