Install and Configure Plex on Synology NAS
1. Download and Install Plex Media Server
1. Navigate to the Synology Package Center on your NAS.
2. Search for "Plex Media Server" and click on the result.
3. Click "Install" to download and install the Plex package.
2. Access Plex Web Interface
1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your Synology NAS followed by ":32400" (e.g., http://192.168.1.100:32400).
2. Plex Web Interface will open, and you will be prompted to sign in to your Plex account or create a new one (if necessary).
3. Set Up Plex Media Library
1. Click on the "Add Library" button to start setting up your media library.
2. Choose the type of media you want to add (e.g., Movies, TV Shows, Music, Photos, etc.) and click "Next".
3. Browse and select the location where your media files are stored on your NAS.
4. Plex will automatically scan and identify your media files. Confirm the selection and click "Add Library".
4. Configure Plex Server Settings
1. In the Plex Web Interface, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to access the server settings.
2. Review and customize various settings, including remote access, transcoding, libraries, network, and more.
3. Click "Save Changes" to apply the settings.
5. Plex Client Setup
1. Install the Plex app on your desired devices (smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, etc.).
2. Launch the Plex app and sign in using your Plex account credentials.
3. Choose your Synology NAS server from the list of available servers.
4. Browse and enjoy your media library on the Plex client.
