Installing and Configuring Plex on QNAP NAS
To install and configure Plex on your QNAP NAS, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access the QNAP NAS web interface
1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your QNAP NAS in the address bar.
2. Log in to the web interface using your admin credentials.
Step 2: Install the Plex Media Server App
1. In the QNAP NAS web interface, click on the "App Center" icon.
2. In the search bar, type "Plex" and hit enter.
3. Locate the Plex Media Server app from the search results and click on "Add to QTS."
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
Step 3: Set up Plex Media Server
1. Open the Plex Media Server app from the QNAP NAS web interface.
2. Click on "Agree" to accept the terms of service.
3. Create a Plex account or sign in with an existing account.
4. Choose the media library folders on your QNAP NAS that you want to add to Plex.
- You can add multiple folders by selecting "Add Library" and choosing the appropriate media type (Movies, TV Shows, Music, etc.).
5. Customize the library settings and click on "Add Library" to finish.
Step 4: Configure Plex Media Server Remote Access
1. In the Plex Media Server app, click on the settings icon at the top-right corner.
2. Go to the "Remote Access" tab.
3. Enable the "Manually specify public port" option and enter a chosen port number (e.g., 32400).
4. Check the box next to "Enable Remote Access" to allow access outside your network.
5. Save the settings.
Step 5: Access Plex Media Server
1. Open a web browser on any device connected to the internet.
2. Enter "https://app.plex.tv/desktop" in the address bar.
3. Sign in to your Plex account.
4. Your QNAP NAS Plex Media Server should now be accessible.
